At long last, the week we’ve been waiting for has arrived – Champagne Week! Special (and super boozy) events are being held around the country next week to celebrate this famous French fizz. Here are five of the best.
1. Fromage and Fizz
At long last, our two favourite things have come together: cheese and sparkling wine!
Head to the Westfield Stratford City in east London on Friday the 7th of October to discover some of the world’s most spectacular sparkling wine and cheese pairings. Spot a bottle you like? You can buy your favourite Champagne at the bar after the tasting.
Pick up your tickets here.
2. Tea with a Tipple
For an elegant afternoon out, head to the Orangery at Blenheim Palace – the childhood home of Winston Churchhill – to experience afternoon tea with a charming twist.
Pluck a flute of Perrier-Jouët from an ‘enchanted tree’ and sip it alongside carefully paired – and simply stunning – creations by guest pastry chef Romi Verstappen as you admire the stunning Oxfordshire landmark.
With just three tables per sitting, this wonderful tea has extremely limited availability. Book your place well in advance by emailing [email protected].
3. In Vino Veritas
The Romans loved their wine, so what better place to cuddle up with a cold flute than beautiful Roman baths? In celebration of National Champagne Week, Lansons will be opening the city of Bath’s first Champagne Bar.
From October 1st to the 7th, you’ll be able to drink beautiful Champagne at the Roman Baths Kitchen, a stunning space that overlooks Bath Abbey. For even better views head to the terrace, where cosy blankets will keep the Autumnal chill at bay as you partake of the selection of Lanson Rose and White Label Champagnes.
It’s a once in a lifetime experience, so advanced booking is recommended. Secure your spot here.
4. Fizz and Quiz
What’s the only thing that could make a pub quiz more fun? Champagne, of course!
Round up three to five of your closest friends on October 3rd and head to the spectacular Searcys St Pancras – a beautiful Champagne bar above the bustling station – for a night of fabulous fizz-and-quiz double act. You’ll need to brush up on your general knowledge as well as your Champagne facts, because both kinds of questions will appear.
With an exclusive Champagne tasting on offer for the winning group – and a complementary bottle of Tattinger Champagne for every team – this isn’t one to miss!
Book your place here.
5. Get Adventurous
Adventurer and broadcaster Oliver Steeds has been lots of exciting places – the bottom of the ocean and the stage at TEDx, to name but a few – but on the 1st of October he’ll be braving The Balcony at Birmingham Selfridges to guide fizz lovers through an adventurous tasting of four G.H. Mumm’s beautiful range (and specially paired canapés, of course).
During the tasting Steeds will discuss his spectacular adventures, with time for questions afterwards. And there’s no need to rush home – a saxophonist will serenade you into the night as you sip your favourite fizz.
