5 French cocktails every fizz lover needs to try

In the spirit of this month’s Bistro Bubble Box, celebrate the fruits of France with these magnifique creations…

Apple Fizz

The finest fruit of Normandy.

25ml Calvados
25ml fresh apple juice
Sparkling wine, chilled
Apple slices, to garnish


Combine the Calvados and apple juice in a champagne flute and stir gently. Top up with sparkling wine and a slice of apple, et viola! The taste of Normandy in a glass!

Kir Royal

Cassis, the blackcurrant, grows abundantly in Burgundy.

15ml crème de cassis
Sparkling wine, chilled
Lemon twist for garnish


Simply add crème de cassis to a champagne flute and top with your choice of bubbly!

Peach-Almond Champagne Cocktail

The almonds of Provence meet peaches straight from the region of Languedoc-Roussillon.

25ml peach schnapps
5ml amaretto
Sparkling wine, chilled


Pour schnapps and amaretto into Champagne flute. Fill with sparkling wine and serve.

French 75

The drink was created during the First World War and was dubbed the 75 because it’s so strong it feels like being shot with a French 75mm gun!

45ml Gin
15ml lemon juice
7.5ml sugar syrup
Sparkling wine, chilled


Add gin, lemon juice and syrup to a cocktail shaker packed with ice. Shake. Strain into an empty glass. Top up with sparkling wine. Garnish with lemon peel.
