Inspired by May’s ‘Glorious Gardens’ Bubble Box, we headed to West London to the most fabulously, floral spot we could find. Whether you’re setting yourself up for a long day at the Chelsea Flower Show this week or unwinding after the event, you can’t go to the area without stopping by one of the area’s most enduring hot spots: The Botanist!
Situated right on the northwest corner of Sloane Square, The Botanist takes its name from its location’s namesake: the naturalist Sir Hans Sloane. More famous for his fortune than his contribution to the natural sciences, Sir Hans nonetheless gave his name to many a spot in The Botanist’s immediate vicinity; nearby Sloane Street and Sloane Gardens are just two examples.
Sloane Square and this beautiful Bubble Bar have more in common than a namesake. Both are Chelsea institutions, regular stomping grounds for the well-heeled and glossy haired. But while
The Botanist got a lot of press when it opened in 2008 as a favourite spot for the Made In Chelsea cast, these days it’s getting more glowing reviews for its food, cocktails and impeccable interior design.
At The Botanist you can decide whether the restaurant or the bar is more your speed; in both sections of the premises, muted tones and botanical touches create a refined, elegant atmosphere in which to enjoy a bottle of top-shelf bubbly.
For lovers of the outdoors, the bar is particularly joyous on a blue sky day. In this urban haven, the floor-to-ceiling windows open out on the Square, bringing the outside in. And, if you want to get out into the sunshine, simply request a table on The Botanist’s generous terrace. This is a perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere – and watch the people go by, of course!
What comes next depends entirely on what time of day you decide to stop by. As a breakfast joint, The Botanist is unrivalled. From blueberry buttermilk pancakes with bacon and maple syrup to soft shell crab ‘Benedict’ with jalapeño, there’s a delicious dish to suit every taste.
A little later in the day? The lunch and dinner menus have gotten rave reviews, and The Botanist’s desserts are a dream. But all of this delicious food is just a sideshow to what really matters: the bubbles!
Who could resist a flute of fabulous fizz in the Chelsea sunshine? At The Botanist you can pick from a well-stocked list that includes English sparklers, Prosecco and a fabulous selection of Champagne. This well-curated selection covers all of the bases, from easy-drinking Prosecco to ultra-glam bottles of pink Champagne.
Whether you’re treating yourself to a delicious breakfast or lunch, gearing up for your day or winding down, there’s nothing like a cold glass of brilliant bubbles in the sun to set you on the right path. And in the fresh air of London’s swankiest neighbourhood, where the people watching is unparalleled – particularly when the Chelsea Flower Show is in full swing – you’re in for a lovely time.
See you on the Square, Bubble Clubbers!
